WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT
THE HARRIET TUBMAN TOUR!

I had the pleasure of apprenticing under Dr. Jennings for about 5 years. During that time, I was introduced to the world of the multiple intelligences through the tremendous story of Harriet Tubman. I watched Dr. Jennings transform into this remarkable hero of a woman on numerous occasions…in a way that not only educates her audiences, but inspires them toward action!

Dr. Karimah Dillard, Independent Drama Therapist

I liked the way you dressed! You were amazing! You talked like her, and you acted like her. OMG!  Thank you for coming to Chaton Charter School.

Reese, Third Grade Student

I laughed, I crossed the river, I hid from dogs, I met Harriet’s father, I learned about her husband, and I listened to her melodious voice…Harriet shared with us the responsibility of the true task of leadership and it was, by far, an awesome experience!

Dr. Dama Riles. Adjunct Professor, Interdenominational Theological Seminary

The teaching artist did an excellent job of relating Harriet Tubman to our particular audience of 21st-century churchgoers. She was also very intentional about being true to the character of Harriet Tubman while incorporating specific information that we requested on sacred music of the period; thus, reiterating the artist’s superior knowledge of the subject matter and ability to meet the needs of the audience.

Kim Scott, former Creative Director, Ben Hill United Methodist Church

The audience was very eager to participate and found the interactive learning environment quite intriguing.  I was surprised at the high level of participation by the inmates and their genuine interest in the subject matter and the many questions and comments they made.

Denise Tabon, former Recreation Director, Hanover Correctional Center

Ms. Jennings has the unique ability to reach a large audience and involve the children in multiple activities.  The children have fun as they learn and leave excited about the performance. Outstanding!

Dr. Patricia Selden, Retired Principal, Chesapeake Public Schools

I worked with Dr. Francine Jennings on her Harriet Tubman program in both its development and presentation; consequently, I have seen first- hand how it engages students of all ages…This program is rich in drama, history, movement, and music…I highly recommend Dr. Francine Jennings’ Harriet Tubman program.
